A. A typical installation on a 6/7 cylinder engine would take two days with two mechanical engineers and one electrical engineer.
Q. Do you have to be in port?
A. The engine has to be stopped to perform the internal installation. However, the remaining electrical and mechanical installation can be done at sea with the engine running.
Q. How can we be sure that the bearings are in good enough condition when installing the XTS-W bearing condition monitoring system?
A. You need to be confident that there is sufficient bearing material in each bearing location to ensure the alarm will be triggered on failure. The bearings should be inspected to engine maker's recommendations. |
